Stephen began his business career with The Boston Consulting Group, serving Fortune 500 and global equivalent firms before becoming Vice President of Corporate Development for TMX Group (helping its value increase over 400%), then co-founding and running of an edtech startup which attracted over a million users and won several industry awards.
He leveraged this executive experience into a return to consulting with the Business Development Bank of Canada's Growth Driver Program for High-Impact Firms, growth consultancy Framework, and Rimrock Lean Advisory Boards.
Stephen holds a PhD in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge, a Joint Honours BA in Economics and Political Science, and the Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) designation, Canada's gold standard for ethical and advisory practice in serving business families.
He has taught at Harvard and Cambridge, speaks professionally to CEO forums and other groups, and is co-author (with Karissa Price) of the forthcoming The War for WHY: How Companies Can Make Purpose Work (And Everyone Happier) For Real (2023).
Over three decades advising large enterprises, VC/startups and senior executives/CEOs, Peter has established a stellar reputation as a change management consultant, innovation driver, agile practitioner and coach.
His international clientele has included blue chip US firms such as Cisco and Target, Big 5 Canadian banks, public sector entities and others. His engagements range from operational reconfigurations to wholesale cultural transformation to leadership skill development.
In recent years Peter has emerged as a thought leader in the practical application of Lean/Agile techniques—in essence, business learning in smaller increments—that lie at the core of 21stcentury value creation. In addition to acting as a mentor to incubators and startups, he has developed and delivered related training materials for the Queen’s School of Business and Ryerson University.
Peter's certifications as an Agile Certified Practitioner by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and a Yellow Belt by the Disciplined Agile Consortium are complemented by his designation as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) by the gold-standard International Coaching Federation and Co-Active Coach by the Coaches Training Institute.
He holds an Honours BsC in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
